Week 18: Sweet Potato
Our lil boy has become amazingly mobile (at least compared to me), passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing. And, baby's finally big enough that the bump thinks a first time mother that hasn't been pregnant before should be able to feel those movements soon. Tsk! Tsk! I've been feeling this lil' squirm worm for a few weeks now. The real milestone will be when Adam can feel it.

Some of the more observant might notice that we skipped a week.....with good reason. This weekend I spent the night in the hospital. Apparently our baby boy isn't the only thing that is growing...my appendix is having some issues. I actually wrote an entire blog on this and the post just....disappeared. So now that I'm good and tired of talking about the weekends events, I'll just keep it simple and say I still have my appendix. It's still angry, but they want to see if it will resolve itself because they are not at all excited about digging around in my pregnant body and putting me under. Whatever. As long as the stupid thing doesn't burst...I really don't care.
They took a look at baby, and apparently L&D at the hospital doesn't give a flying fart what your due date says. If baby measures and has all the characteristics of an 18 week old fetus...to them it's an 18 week old fetus...and it's the due date that needs to move to match the baby. So they moved the due date to January 9th, which makes us 18 weeks along. I guess this makes sense, since our lil' guy has been measuring large and ahead of what the bump says he's doing for more than a month or two now according to all of our ultrasounds. Again, to this, I say whatever....I doubt we make it past New Years Eve anyway. Hello tax deduction!
Sorry to hear bout your appendix! I wonder what they do if it bursts..I assume operate but it would probably be dangerous, no? I worried that my appendix was bursting through the second half of my pregnancy but it was just normal abdominal pressure. I am glad you got it checked out!
ReplyDeleteOh ew. Sorry about your appendix. Hopefully it will just chill out. No one wants to have surgery whilst pregnant.
