^Baby's face, with hands in mouth^

Had our trisomy 13 and downs syndrome test today. Everything looks good...no issues that we could see on the ultrasound. I didn't expect to see anything, nor did my doctor, it's just nice to be prepared if something like that were to be an issue. I'm definitely a planner and the unexpected rocks me...I'm pretty resilient and can bounce back pretty easily and just deal, but if I have a choice I like to know what's ahead of me. Not exactly a fly by the seat of my pants type of gal. Baby was very, very active, it was almost hard for us to keep the frames we wanted to keep, the sonographer had to be quick about it when we would see something that we were wanting to keep. "He" kept sticking his tongue out fumbling it around his hands, which it seemed "he" was trying to put in his mouth, with little success. At one point it seemed he figured it out, but then you'd see him spread his fingers out and the whole process would start over again. Kind of funny to watch. I think we'll have a thumb sucker, possibly. Ehn, maybe not, he just thinks it's pretty cool that he's got fingers, apparently. He kept stretching his legs out and squirming around. Very cute to watch. Adam seemed to be a little more amazed by this one. Probably because baby actually looks like a baby now, rather than a blobby mass. It's easy to make out fingers, and feet, and a belly, and all of that...and before I think without having a little bit of working knowledge as to what is what...or a very creative mind that visualizes very well, well...again, it looked like a blob of nothing. On the way home, he said something about it just being amazing to him that there is technology out there to see this stuff. He thought it was pretty cool, I guess. He's pretty disconnected right now. Some days he just looks at my belly and gets this smirk on his face....I have to remind him at that point that it's going to get much much bigger. He's not disgusted or making fun of me, I think he just is trying to figure out how he woke up one day next to a bigger belly...and much bigger boobs than what he woke up to before.

Awww, great U/S pics!
ReplyDeleteOh hey, I have a stupid fitness question for you. I am getting cramps in my calves. Ow! Any way to help ease these or prevent them?

Wellllll....it's kind of one of those things that comes along with increased activity :) Make sure you stretch them REALLY well after you are done working out. Get some new shoes ( go to a specialty store where they can actually get you the right shoe based on your gait, etc....usually a running store) I used to get them REALLY bad in the middle of the night when I was running alot. You can try glutamine, and some people say bananas ( but diet wise, not exactly the most diet friendly food because it's so full of sugar...albeit natural sugar, but when you are trying to lose fat...your body doesn't care...sugar is sugar.) Make sure to drink alot of water, stretch those babies every which way you can after you are done working out, and sometimes when you get up in the morning helps, too. And the shoe thing. Those are the biggies. If you have any type of injury...even if it's slight, it can also cause this. Unfortunately that's what exercise does, it causes miniscule tears in muscle fibers, and this is how you get stronger...when they repair themselves...and sometimes a reaaction, especially in your calves can be cramping :) That sucks! I hate those!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I started taking a multi vitamin( finnaly found one that doesnt make me puke) and upped my water intake. So far it seems to have helped.
