8 w 2 d ultrasound...baby is doing just fine

^ This shot always looks like the painting "scream" to me.
When you have a little fat body, and your arms and legs are stumpy...how can they not call you a Gummy Bear?

Side view...Nolan thinks it looks like the animated Chicken McNuggets from McDonalds. Bet he'll think about his Happy Meals a little differently from now on?
We had another ultrasound last Thursday. Seems this little guy is movin' right along. He measured a little over an inch from head to butt, and he was moving around like swimming the English Channel was his job. His heart beat was 153 beats per minute, so our doctor was much more pleased than he was a few weeks ago that this little guy is quite viable. ( I say he, him, his...but in all reality we don't know yet, so nobody get too excited...mom). It just feels like the right thing to call it "he" for now. Plus we want a boy, so if wishful thinking is good for anything, for all intensive purposes in our minds, this is a boy.
Although he still looks a little alien like with his huge head and body blob, his little arms and legs were moving around like crazy (honestly it looked a bit like what a bug does when it's overturned).
It must be becoming more real for Adam because he's starting to have baby dreams. He dreamt he was making breakfast and our little boy was standing in the kitchen with him, and he looked up at him (big brown eyes, like mine, Adam said) and said "look Daddy, I have freckles, like you". We're thinking our chances of ending up with a carrot top are pretty high. I'm brunette, but when I'm out in the sun, my hair gets more of a reddish tint than it does golden. Adam is...well...I'm not sure what color Adam's is. It's like a little brunette, a little red, and a little blond. He has typical Irish red head features though. Fair, freckly skin, greenish, grayish, bluish eyes....my husband is a hybrid :) Only kidding. At the end of the day, who knows what the genetic hand dealt us...I guess we'll see in another 200 days or so. Until then it's interesting to guess.
