Yesterday I finished up getting the things we needed for the nursery and for my hospital bag. My shopping trip to Babiesrus and Target yielded 6 bags full of gear. I bought:

I've been looking for a Hawkeye bunting since it will be chilly in December and January, which they have at the Hawk Shop but it would be WAY too big for him since all they have left online is a 12 month size on up. I'm disappointed :( I've debated this since really, in Nevada, it's only cold for a few months out of the year, so I thought, who cares if it's too big, at least he'll get more wear out of it then two months. It's really pretty cheap at 35.oo so I'm not freaking out about it even if we bought a smaller size and he only wears it for two months, but Evyn and Nolan were both little bitty peanuts and I ended up using preemie outfits to bring them home in so if Hayden is a little guy as well, if I bought the larger one, he will swim in it, and then why not just use a blanket anyway? Then I saw this really cool bunting thing that covers the car seat and you don't even have to mess with the whole bundling of baby thing (which usually pisses them off anyway).
We do have a cute hat to keep his head warm while outdoors (above), so I'll just have to keep an eyeball out for the bunting just to humor my hubby. (Fingers crossed!)

A baby monitor
2 extra crib sheets
2 crib saver pads
An infant safety sleeper wedge
burp cloths
2 nursing tanks and 2 nursing bras
4 pairs of comfy pajamas that will be conducive to breastfeeding ( just henley tops that unbutton way down and comfy pants...I hate night gowns, I always end up with them tangled around my waist or neck)
6 pairs of black undies ( they are low cut just in case I have a c-section) Adam called them granny panties...I tried to explain a thong is not going to hold the massive pads in they give you to keep you from being soaked in blood after having baby. Lay off the granny panties!
A nursing cover so my children don't develop a complex from seeing my boobs hang out all the time while I breast feed
a few makeup bag necessities
A mini blow dryer
extra curling iron
It seemed like it wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg for the remainder of the things I had on the list, especially since I went cheap, but it still ended up costing me 500 bucks. My husband didn't get the need for the extra set of toiletries either, but I just gave him the look. He knows I have the planning tendency, and that I like to be prepared. Trying to pack a hospital bag while in labor is not my idea of being prepared and since I refuse to live out of the hospital bag for the next month or two, I bought an extra set of toiletries that I need to get ready. It's not like I won't use the stuff when I run out of what I have now. Everyone keeps saying "it's not a fashion show" and "you won't even feel like getting around" as if I haven't done this twice before. I'm not one of those women that can sit around in my own stink all day, and not look half way decent. I wasn't then, and I'm not now. It doesn't matter how bad I feel, I will still take a shower, blow dry my hair and put a pinch of makeup on...it does help me feel a little bit better if I smell good and look half way alive. So c-section or not, exhausted or not, it feels good to get up, take a shower with pretty smelling bath stuff (this makes me laugh a little, now that I think about it, my mother realized how neurotic I had become about this after my first trip home from being away at college and the bathroom looked like the shelves at Bath & Body works the whole time I was there) and put on my own fresh smelling pajamas and undies ( those mesh ones they give you at the hospital are just disgusting!) Blow drying and curling my hair, and putting a bit of makeup on feels normal, and after labor and delivery...any hint of "normal" feels good. Adam will appreciate not having to look at scary wife, and I will feel fine about having visitors :)
This morning I am finishing up the last load of baby laundry ( okay, one of the last loads) and today I will paint the letters for his wall, maybe paint stripes on that wall where the window is, and I'm thinking about heading out to find a mirror for the dresser wall).
I also bought Haydy's (Evy keeps calling him this, I didn't think about the fact that my child's nickname could be the other name for hell spelled differently, but whatever, I didn't come up with the nickname) going home outfit today in honor of our Hawkeyes ( who are 8-0 right now by the way!) I haven't decided on which beenie since they are both WAY too cute, so I guess it will be a size thing. Whichever fits the best will be the winner. O how I hope this kid doesn't have a huge noggin!
