Feeling a little squashed?

Weeks 29-32 (Month 7): Squash
Hayden's energy is surging, thanks to the formation of white fat deposits beneath his skin. (As if those kicks and jabs to the ribs haven't tipped me off to that yet!) He is also settling into sleep and waking cycles, though -- as I’ve also already noticed -- they don’t necessarily coincide with my own. He wiggles and squirms and kicks me in the bladder all night long, and for a better part of the day. He takes small naps here and there, but then he's wide awake and rip roarin' ready to go. I see an active baby in our future. Also this month, all five senses are finally functional, and his brain and nervous system are going through major developments as well. We're almost there...almost.
His nursery is still in the "being put together stages". His daddy is having a hard time letting go of his dumping closet (this used to be the whole room!) But adding another person to the family is going to force us to actually utilize the fourth bedroom and I really am going nuts at the idea that we've been in our house for almost 2 years and it's still very rough and undecorated! The baby's room seemed like a really good place to start (besides Evy and Nolan's room, which are also not completely finished yet). I just keep adding to them as I get more ideas on ways to decorate affordably, because I can be cheap like that and I change my mind so often that I hate being locked into something I spent alot of money on. Thus the photo below :). I made some art out of 4 canvasses and some really cute fabric stretched over those which adds more color besides all the brown ( a little bit of green) I have some of this fabric left and I've been thinking about making a mobile to suspend from the ceiling above his crib with it as well. ??? Hmmm...still in the deciding phases on that one :)
The picture just doesn't do the canvasses justice....you can't see the pattern in detail, which are multi colored circles of browns, black and white, so it just kind of looks like poo green squares on the wall here. It really does look too cute in person though! I think I'm going to move his changing table to this wall above, (it was sitting in between the two doors below) and get a 6 drawer dresser to put up against the wall in between the door and his closet (picture below). The "dresser wall" also needs a mirror in addition to the dresser to bounce the light from the window directly across from it and make the room look a little bit bigger. (I hate the gold fixtures, by the way...these will go soon enough and be replaced with oil rubbed bronze fixtures, but for now...they're just ugly and drive me insane!)
It is a REALLY tiny room. Really, it's only big enough to fit a queen size bed and MAYBE a dresser in, with very little room around the sides of the room to do anything but sleep and store some clothes. Eventually when Hayden is two or three and Nolan is a little older, they will switch rooms. By then Nolan will want the privacy of being on his own floor, and since he really doesn't spend much time in his room anyway...who cares if it's teeny weeny. We'll most likely have to invest in a loft style bed at that point so he has more room to move around, and the room will be more functional. But until then, Hayden will sleep in our room, and this will serve as "his room" where he will nap when we are on the main floor of our house (which is most of the time) and will hold all his "stuff".
I still need to find the wooden letter A that matches the rest of his letters on the top shelf in the picture above. I bought all of these at Wal Mart a few weeks ago, thinking the A would eventually be in stock, and I've checked almost every weekend since...still no A. Thinking I'm giving up on that, and just might have to purchase all new letters and repaint all of them again. GRRRR! Dang Wal-Fart! I've even looked at a few craft stores hoping I'd find a letter that would work...even if it doesn't match exactly...tough luck on that one~ These poor shelves look really barron right now...but I have big plans for them! I still need to go get my prego pictures taken, too, and will add those in frames to the shelf above his crib on the right where the candles, and vases are sitting right now, once we get them back. Babies R Us also had the cutest little stuffed monkey that I've been eye balling, and I would really like to get them for him and also perch it on one of these three shelves. So much to do and not enough time to do it in it seems like! I've been thinking about adding in some dark chocolate stripes to the one wall (where the window is, you can see it just to the right of the shelves and crib wall in the picture above) as well, just for a little visual interest. But since I've been feeling so cruddy lately I just haven't gotten around to it. Plus I'm a little scared that it will really shrink the room even more....and then there's that thing about having to repaint when Nolan moves in there. (It's 2 years away, get over it, huh? Most likely I'll end up repainting the ENTIRE room when that happens anyway).
It seems like we have so much left to do and buy before he arrives. Time is really starting to feel like it's getting away from us. We've just been so busy buying all of the other things thast we've needed for him ( finally bought some Medela bottles this weekend, that will fit the breast pump I still need to get) that decorating his nursery fully has been on the back burner. Better get that finished up, huh?
