Adam has been working on Saturday's the past four weeks. This leaves me home, usually to clean, and get things done around the house, or catch up on work if I need to. It's kind of nice sometimes....although I do miss having the extra time with him. Yesterday, it was so nice out though, ( as if it's ever really "not nice" in Vegas) and I couldn't stand staying inside. So, I got up and showered right away, and the kids and I went out running errands.
One of the things that I had on my agenda to do was shop for maternity clothes. I know, you're thinking "wow, isn't it a little early to do that?" And I say, "shush, my 32 year old body isn't acting exactly the same as my 20 something year old body did".
Really, most of my clothes fit, but some of them are getting a little uncomfortable. I'm so bloated and puffy in my belly area. I tried to explain this feeling to Adam the other day, but since he's male...he just doesn't get it. So let me explain this for anyone else that might feel like they could be a bit empathetic right now. Imagine you have a very hard, very large orange tied to your hips positioned right above your pubic bone...now imagine laying down, face to the floor with all your weight situated on that orange...that would get a little uncomfortable after awhile, huh? Yeah...that's how my belly feels in my regular clothing right now. ( Couldn't be the Sprouts affection for Dairy Queen at all, could it?)Nah...don't even think it :)
I had intentions of just getting some "early" pregnancy stuff...bella bands to extend the life of some of my jeans on weekends, and a few pairs of pants for work. I still have some "fat" clothes left, from when I was a bit heavier, and those are comfortable of course, but they bag in all the wrong places...so in order to not look like I'm wearing a diaper underneath my pants at work, I was in need of something with a little stretch, and rather than buying up a size, it just made more sense to try to get some maternity stuff that doesn't look ridiculous right this minute, and that will last me if anything into the first few trimesters. I found some great sales though...so I stocked up on a bunch of stuff. I was actually really surprised by how much maternity clothing has expanded into being a bit more fashionable since the tents meant to fit mostly third trimester pregnancies of my past two pregnancies. I refused then to wear those. Anyone that knew me at that time, knows I really didn't wear anything maternity if I didn't have to...thank god I was small enough then that it was easy to do that. However that's not going to work so well now. I need my wardrobe to be a little more expansive than a pair of overalls ( yeehaw!!! did I really wear overalls at one time?) Unfortunately, I lived in them when I was pregnant the first two times around. That was also during the time that Express ponte bootleg leggings and tunics were all the rage, so I lived in those as well. Yeah...not going to work so well this time around. I don't live in Iowa anymore...where overalls still may be a little acceptable, and I need professional work attire. I also have nothing casual that would work...at all. Thus...shopping was going to be a necessity at some point in time. Given my comfort level in my clothing...now was as good a time as any. I got three pairs of pants for work, surprisingly, very cute, and very comfortable. As long as I don't have the belly panel showing, nobody should really be able to tell that I'm wearing maternity. I also found two really cute Sweet Pea tops ( I had no idea they made those for pregnant people...but I was so excited when I found out they do!) I found a cute wrap style top for work with short sleeves, so I don't roast to death in a few months here when it's sweltering out. A bunch of tee type tops for casual wear. A pair of jeans, a pair of denim capris that are so stinkin' adorable on, a pair of gauchos, a pair of denim shorts, and two bella bands to extend the life of some of my pre-pregnancy pants ( they won't work well for work...something about not having my pants buttoned at work just grosses me out, even with a bella band over them) but I wore one last night when Adam and I went to a friends for a UFC party, and it worked quite well once I forgot that I was wearing one....and that my jeans weren't buttoned. I also found these:

So cute huh? I loved Carters for my kids when they were little. So soft, and they wash well and hold up over time. Such a great value, too. These all came in two packs, and were 10.00 a piece on sale! Can't beat that! SOLD!!!!! So I bought all that was yellow and green.
I asked Adam the other day how he felt about finding out the sex of Sprout before it is born, and he said he didn't see any reason not to. That way we could at least plan ahead a little bit and get what we need to. I brought up the yellow and green thing, and that just didn't seem to appease him at all. ( Maybe he is a little bit more excited than he lets on?)
Our first appt is tomorrow. I'm hoping maybe they'll do an early ultra sound to confirm the age of our little growing bean in there. I'll post after work tomorrow.
